Black Rock is another of those mid-Northern towns in South Australia that declined almost to nothing when the railway disappeared in the late 20th century. But then, Black Rock was never more than tiny.

Quorn, still a railway town in the mid-North of South Australia, is home to the Pichi-Richi Historic Railway. The Engine Shed was used as such in the heyday of railways here, when through-trains could carry passengers as far North as Alice Springs.
